Frequently asked questions

Answers to some of the questions we are most often asked about our work, our approach and how we collaborate with organisations and partners.

About Buyer Consulting

Buyer Consulting turns strategic vision into practical, measurable change across health, care, technology and purpose-led organisations.
What does Buyer Consulting do?

Buyer Consulting Ltd works with organisations to turn complex challenges into practical, sustainable outcomes. Our work combines strategic, commercial, operational, policy and governance expertise, with particular depth in health and social care and specialist knowledge of health technology.

Projects may involve system transformation, growth, digital innovation, partnership development, campaigning or a combination of these areas.

Who does Buyer Consulting work with?

We work across public, private and voluntary sectors, including health and social care organisations, health technology businesses, charities, VCFSE organisations and funding partners.

The common thread is a need to make progress on a complex challenge while staying focused on purpose, outcomes and the people affected by the work.

What makes Buyer Consulting different?

Our approach brings together deep health and social care knowledge, specialist health technology experience, commercial and operational understanding, policy and governance insight, and collaborative networks across sectors.

We focus on turning strategy into action and measurable change rather than producing recommendations that sit on a shelf.

Who leads Buyer Consulting?

Buyer Consulting was founded by Victoria Buyer, a commercially driven strategist and business leader with more than 20 years of experience across health, social care and the pharmaceutical sector.

Her experience spans commercial development, health innovation, organisational transformation and stakeholder engagement. Her postgraduate law degree further strengthens her understanding of rights, governance, ethics and the legal frameworks that underpin organisational decision-making.

Does Buyer Consulting provide legal advice?

No. References to law, rights, governance and legal frameworks describe relevant knowledge that informs our strategic work. They do not mean that Buyer Consulting provides regulated legal services.

Where specialist legal advice is required, an appropriately qualified legal professional should be used.

Projects & Impact

We explain Buyer Consulting primarily through the change it has helped create and the outcomes that can be evidenced.
Why is the website focused on projects and outcomes?

Consultancy is most useful when expertise leads to action and results. That is why our website leads with completed work, outcomes and evidence rather than a long list of services.

Our case studies are designed to show the challenge, Buyer Consulting's role, the work undertaken, collaboration, the resulting outcome and measurable impact where those details can be published.

What impact has Buyer Consulting delivered?

Supplied evidence from Buyer Consulting's work over the last decade includes:

  • £55m+ of income delivered for partners;
  • more than 3 million social-media interactions created for client campaigns;
  • development and implementation of complex relationship-management strategies involving NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care; and
  • work championing marginalised communities and the VCFSE sector.
How are case studies presented?

Where information can be published, projects are structured around a clear sequence: challenge → Buyer Consulting's role → work undertaken → collaboration → outcome → measurable impact.

Client, partner and testimonial information is included only where it is appropriate and publishable.

What is the Providers Unite example?

Providers Unite is a strong example of Buyer Consulting's campaigning and convening work. In 2024, Victoria helped create the grassroots campaign and lobbying movement in response to chronic underfunding across social care.

Supplied evidence from the campaign includes more than 1 million social-media interactions, direct engagement with 70 MPs, and the mobilisation of thousands of frontline professionals around a shared call for change.

Do past project results guarantee the same outcome for another organisation?

No. Case studies and impact figures describe specific work in specific circumstances. They demonstrate relevant experience and capability, but every organisation, market, system and project is different.

Any new project is scoped around its own objectives, constraints, evidence and measures of success.

How We Work

Our approach is collaborative, responsive and focused on implementation as well as strategic clarity.
How does a Buyer Consulting project begin?

We begin by developing a clear understanding of the organisation's goals, challenges and operating environment. From there, we identify root causes, test assumptions, uncover opportunities and define what meaningful progress should look like.

How do you work with clients and partners?

Collaboration is central to the work. We listen, bring the right people into the conversation and co-create practical responses rather than imposing a pre-packaged answer.

This is particularly important in health and care, where sustainable change usually depends on multiple organisations, professions, communities and decision-makers working together.

Do you only provide strategy?

No. Strategy matters, but the objective is implementation and measurable change. Buyer Consulting combines strategic thinking with commercial, operational, project, communications and stakeholder expertise so that an idea can move into action.

What does “commercial success without mission drift” mean?

Growth should strengthen an organisation rather than pull it away from the reason it exists. We help organisations pursue financially sustainable products, services and opportunities while remaining aligned with their purpose, values and communities.

The aim is stronger performance, resilience and growth without sacrificing mission or public value.

Can Buyer Consulting work across organisational and sector boundaries?

Yes. Buyer Consulting works collaboratively across broad networks and across public, private and voluntary sectors. That cross-sector perspective is particularly useful where a challenge involves government, the NHS, providers, technology businesses, funders, charities or VCFSE partners.

Areas of Work

These categories describe the expertise behind our projects. In practice, substantial programmes often draw on more than one.
What is Health and Care System Transformation?

This work focuses on helping health and care organisations redesign services, strengthen governance and turn system-level challenges into sustainable outcomes.

It draws on deep sector knowledge and an understanding of the operational, strategic and partnership realities of health and social care.

What is Commercial and Strategic Growth?

Commercial and Strategic Growth is about identifying viable income opportunities, improving performance and strengthening financial resilience while keeping growth aligned with organisational purpose.

This can include strategic planning, relationship management, income generation, organisational development and investment positioning.

What is Digital Innovation and Adoption?

Buyer Consulting supports organisations developing or adopting health technologies, with a focus on turning useful innovation into something that can work in real systems.

The work may involve strategy, adoption, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, commercial development and the practical requirements of scaling technology in health and care.

What is Policy and Partnership Development?

This work brings organisations together around shared objectives and helps translate policy, rights, evidence and stakeholder priorities into practical partnerships.

Buyer Consulting's experience includes work involving government, parliamentary groups, NHS bodies and VCFSE organisations.

What is Campaigning for Change?

Campaigning for Change brings people and organisations together so that affected voices are heard and can influence the design, delivery and evaluation of care and support.

It combines mobilisation, communications, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and coalition-building around a clear purpose.

Growth & Innovation

Buyer Consulting can support organisations and new ventures where commercial, strategic and health-sector requirements need to work together.
Can you support health technology businesses and start-ups?

Yes. Buyer Consulting has specialist health technology knowledge and experience supporting the strategic and commercial elements needed to move an idea towards adoption and sustainable growth.

Relevant expertise includes business strategy, organisational governance, product branding and communications, project management, income generation, investment pitching and partnership development.

Can you help identify new income opportunities?

Yes. Income generation and financial resilience are established parts of Buyer Consulting's commercial work. The aim is to identify opportunities that are viable for the organisation and consistent with its purpose rather than pursuing growth for its own sake.

Can Buyer Consulting support investment pitching?

Investment pitching is within Buyer Consulting's supplied areas of expertise. Support can sit alongside business strategy, commercial positioning, organisational readiness and the wider case for investment.

Specific investment outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Can you help with governance and organisational development?

Yes. Governance is part of Buyer Consulting's broader strategic and operational work. Good governance helps organisations make clearer decisions, manage growth, maintain trust and stay aligned with their mission as they change.

Can you support communications and campaigns?

Yes. Buyer Consulting's experience includes product branding, communications, marketing and campaigning. Supplied project evidence includes more than 3 million social-media interactions created for client campaigns.

Communications are treated as part of the wider strategy: who needs to hear the message, what action is needed and how that activity contributes to the intended outcome.

Working With Us

If you are considering a project, partnership or piece of strategic work, a clear first conversation is usually the best place to begin.
What should I include when I contact Buyer Consulting?

A useful starting point is the organisation you represent, the challenge or opportunity you are dealing with, what you want to change, and any important timescale or constraints.

You do not need to turn the enquiry into a finished consultancy brief before making contact.

Can Buyer Consulting work with funders and partnerships as well as individual organisations?

Yes. Buyer Consulting's target partners include funding bodies as well as health, care, technology, public, private and voluntary-sector organisations. The company also has experience of complex stakeholder and partnership environments.

How are scope and outcomes agreed?

The scope should reflect the actual challenge, the work required, the organisations or stakeholders involved and the outcomes that can reasonably be measured. Those details are then documented in the relevant proposal, agreement or terms of engagement for the project.

How do I discuss a project with Buyer Consulting?

Use the Contact page to start a conversation about a project, partnership or funding opportunity. Buyer Consulting can then explore whether the challenge is a good fit for its expertise and what a useful next step would be.
